Just "upgraded" my PixInsight to the latest build that came out this week. Disaster. Lost BlurXterminator and NoiseXTerminator, and just to make things worse, I lost Starnet++ V2 and when I downloaded that and put it in the right bin folder, I still can't get anything to come up. I'm not tech-savvy at all. Help. I can do without Starnet++ if I can get StarXterminator, but not BlurX and NoiseX; those are crucial. Clear Skies, Phil |

Check your Gmail for the installation instructions or try logging in to your RC-astro account. One thing I know for sure is that the license will perpetually work even on multiple devices. It's not a one time thing. If it does disappear, it's not permanent, so no disaster. |

Thanks. I sent in an inquiry to RC Astro and we'll see what Russell says. I had no idea PixInsight would do this; what's the point of an "upgrade" if it's going to do that? Clear Skies, Phil |

I don't know about Starnet, as I don't use it. But any third party scripts/processes that are in the repository list should be downloaded and installed automatically, otherwise just check for updates. Make sure PI has internet access and that your firewall is not blocking it. It is also a good idea to disable antivirus software temporarily, as they often cause problems with updates. |

Starnet++ V2 isn't yet ready for 1.8.9-2, AFAIK. All the others needs reinstalling from fresh. |

Everyone has the same problems whith a major upgrade, for such a tech savvy company there must be an easy way to restore previous 3rd party installations without all the endless faff. Not to mention having to restore repositories. |

That also happened to me. Uninstall Pixinsight. Then reinstall the new version. When you run it the addons should appear. Apply them, then close the program and hopefully it will install the modules including the ones you lost. That was the only way that worked for me. Peter |

If Apple: After the new version installation, go to: 1. Resources> Updates > Manage repositories -> Check that you have all the previous repositories added. 2. Resources > Updates > Check for updates 3. Restart Starnet 2++ not compatible yet with the latest version of Pixinsight. |

Did you upgrade vom 1.8.9-1? Sadly, this seemingly minor upgrade introduced a compatibility problem for plugins. RC-Astro's stuff definitely works with -2, just re-install the repos. Starnet v2 also supports -2, see https://www.starnetastro.com/download/ Martin |

Phil Creed: Check for updates after upgrading. I lost them Blur, Noise and StarXt and they came back after checking for updates. Hope it will work for you as well. |

I backup all files under ..\src\scripts After the update and only after the repository update has completed I copy the scripts files back but only missing files. That includes sub folders. Then do a modules refresh. Ditto scripts refresh. You will see it picking up the missing components and everything should now be in the right place. Saves me a lot of messing around. Good luck! |

I had to reinstall StarNet 2 as well yesterday when I installed the new PI update. It also seems to work fine after putting all the files in the right folder. Are you sure you read the README.txt file that comes in the folder when you download SN2? |

andrea tasselli: Dan Smirnov: Starnet++ V2 runs well in the newest PI - version. Phil Creed: If you are working with a Mac: Excerpt from the Starnet-Readme file of Starnet++ V2: TROUBLESHOOTING 1. If after you hit 'Search' PI does not find StarNet, that means that either StarNet2-pxm.dylib is not in the right place or you have too old PI version. Make sure that StarNet2-pxm.dylib is in the PI's 'bin' folder together with other StarNet files and not in some subdirectory. 1a.For Mac users only: try copying two tensorflow libraries into /Applications/PixInsight/PixInsight.app/Contents/Frameworks/ If you use finder to do this, you will need to navigate into /Applications/PixInsight/, right-click PixInsight and choose 'Show Package Contents' and go further from there as usual. Good luck! |

Not working with a MAC; Windows 11. I haven't heard anything from RC Astro yet but I'll try some of the things mentioned in these replies. Many thanks to those responded. There are no updates when I check the repositories. It's like it's all gone. I'll probably have to reinstall this "upgrade". I have a real issue with an upgrade that's a downgrade. Have you seen this at the end of the installation notes: Critical Changes From version 1.8.9-2 build 1593, PixInsight requires support for AVX2 and FMA3 processor instructions on Linux and Windows. This requirement is not imposed on macOS because the Rosetta x64 emulator does not support these instructions. it will not run on older machines i have a newish computer and it installed without a hitch and all the X stuff worked |

You don't need to reinstall the repositories. Once you have finished installing the latest Pixinsight, just install your RC astro software the usual way. Then check for updates within Pixinsight. They will appear there. Just follow the instructions. K. |

I, too, had to 'update repository' to get scripts and processes to reappear--kind of a nuisance everytime there's a new software version. Also, if you use a GPU running CUDA, remember that the proper tensorflow.dll that supports CUDA has to be reinstalled over Pixinsight's--another nuisance I wish PI would fix. I keep a backup copy in another directory. |

I have not yet done an upgrade form version 1.8.9-1 but I noticed that my Topaz applications are now greyed out [I still have the desktop versions available]. Does any one know if Topaz is no longer supported within PI?? How about with the latest upgrade? |

Have you seen this at the end of the installation notes: O course I saw it. I just blew it off. 😁 For real though, maybe some elaboration like, "DO NOT UPGRADE IF YOUR COMPUTER IS..." |
