I was wondering what those of us using the above mentioned camera chose in terms of gain setting. With bin2 the choice is easy as at gain=120 the HGC kicks and you get a boost in both RON and dynamic range but it is unclear to me if there is a similar preferential setting when operating the camera in bin1 resolution. Thanks for your answers Andrea |

As far as I know, there's nothing similar to HGC when in binning 1x1. HGC seems to work in binning 2x2 and lower. Ciao Lorenzo |

And, by the way, I'm used to use that camera at gain 200. |

Hi Andrea, from my experience I use Gain 108 in bin1x1 as marked on the graphs. As Lorenzo mentioned there is no HCG mode in bin1x1. I did try gain 0 initially but got some weird results so I would suggest avoiding that. You could try gain 50 and 100 and compare the results. One thing to make sure of is taking good flats around 30000 ADU with exposure longer than 2 seconds. Hope that helps, clear skies, Andy |

I just leave it at 120, that way I don’t have to worry about it when I switch back and forth between bin 1 and bin 2. |

I use the camera at gain 0, offset 8 for LRGB and gain 200 offset 30 for H-alpha. Exposure times at f/5.3 are 180 s for L, 300 s for RGB and 240 s for Ha. All in bin 2. cs, Wim |

I struggled with bin 1x1 mode on my version of this camera for a while. I’ve settled on 240 gain with my refractor at f/5 for both LRGB and 7 nm narrowband filters and it’s working well for me. |

With a 240 gain in bin 1, your full well is only like 600?!? |
