Description

There aren't many images of RCW80 on Astrobin.  It's not difficult to understand why.  This is a small faint DSO, with some Halpha, and not much else.   Underwhelming enough not to have its own unique Gum number (48d).  The reward for effort is... ummm... low.

This is pretty much the best I can do with 18hours of SHO data from my RC12, supplemented with 16hours from Telescope Live's CDK24.

In real-estate speak it could be said that the nebulae has dramatic crescent shape, appearing to sweep past a mysterious dark teardrop-shaped molecular cloud.

To me, it is just a bit of a blob.    I have pushed the saturation (too) hard, just to make is a little more interesting.

Was it worth it?  Not sure, but I suppose it add another images of this object to the AB database for future generations to marvel at.
