Description

Barnard 312 is a prominent and large dark nebula in the constellation Scutum. Deep exposures of the nebula with broadband filters already show faint filaments of glowing hydrogen gas. With narrowband filters, however, these filaments can be emphasized much more clearly. This is the RCW 163 nebula, which appears to be partially obscured by Barnard 312.
